The story behind my self portrait

I’ve often been told I’m a dreamer.

My head is in the clouds.

I have a vivid imagination.

I daydream.

When I was in school, I was terrible at maths and science. I loved creative subjects where answers were not black and white. When I didn’t choose the practical options for my senior subjects, I was told I would never go far in life.

Instead, I won our school’s award for academic excellence, I topped the business and dance subjects, I gained two Bachelor’s degrees and a postgrad qualification, I went on to have a successful career with the police service as a media advisor and now run a beautiful business as a creative.

Oh tell them all I said hi 💁‍♀️

What makes me sad is that having your ‘head in the clouds’ is seen as such a negative thing.

To be honest, it’s quite beautiful to be able to daydream. I wouldn’t want to be any other way. What’s the alternative?

So I hope my self-portrait ‘Head in the Clouds’ reminds you that it is safe to daydream.

Have your head in the clouds.

See possibilities everywhere.

Dream big.
